Refurbishment to Grade II listed security building, full refurbishment including structural alterations and M&E refit.

Works will be carried out in a live prison environment creates a number of additional challenges.  The vaulted ceiling on the first floor is collapsing, confined space works to the roof wings either side of the vaulted ceiling.

This refurbishment is expected to be intensive including the removal of existing internal walls, renewing rewiring (power and lights), upgrade of toilets and kitchenettes. Redecoration and replacing floor coverings throughout.

Although the project is not due to commence on site until the Spring of 2024, Green Hat are in continuous liaison and discussions with the client during the pre-construction phase not only on design and phasing of works but also to address potential security concerns, potential disruptions to daily operations and the need to ensure the safety and security of inmates, staff, and construction personnel. It is essential that the refurbishment project proceeds smoothly whilst while maintaining the operational integrity of the jail facilities.
